There are two ways in which Tensar geogrids can be used to stabilise railway trackbeds:

  • to stabilise track ballast layer – this reduces ballast deformation and the rate of track settlement which can extend the maintenance cycle with huge whole life benefits;
  • to stabilise track sub-ballast layer – this increases the bearing capacity over soft subgrade, can reduce sub-ballast thickness with time, cost and carbon savings.
